2005 Inductee - Sue Johnson

Racquet sports were Sue's lifelong passion. Sue was the Varsity Girls' Tennis Coach at Tower Hill School in 1963 and 1964. After raising her daughter and son, she resumed her role as Tower Hill's coach from 1980 through the 2002 season. During her tenure her teams won 6 Delaware State Championships. She was also named Girl’s Tennis Coach of the Year numerous times.
Sue was the recipient of many athletic honors from high school until her retirement from coaching in 2002. She was given the White Blazer Award at the Baldwin School in 1945. She earned 16 Varsity letters at the University of Pennsylvania. Sue was named an All American Field Hockey Player while at Penn. She was nationally ranked in both tennis and squash at various times during her life. Sue and her family were honored as the Middle States Tennis Family of the Year in 1982.
